Earlier this year at the ASIA Symposium, there was a very small Martin kit guitar auctioned off. I think it has a set of curly maple sides and back. Does anyone remember what model that was or have a copy of the plans for that kit?

John I think Jerry Hossom would know. He was bidding on it. John Hall too.

If it was a Martin kit, then it probably doesn't have very concise plans. In fact, they don't come with plans at all!

There were 2 kits offered. I got the Ditson. This is a very historical hit in that the dreadnought evolved from this.
The other kit was a 00 I think. I rememeber that one kit but I was after the Ditson.

PS if you know which model it is let me know I am sure I may be able to help out as I have a colection of prints and drawings

It wasn't a 00 but it wasn't the Ditson either. It was definately smaller than a 00. It might be the size 5 terz that marting has on their site under special editions. 21.25" scale. I guess the kit must have been just a special thing or a discontinued thing.

I think you are right about the 5. I have the tracings for them

Do you think a 21.25" scale will fit your tracing? I think Martin has designed this guitar ot be tuned a bit higher than concert pitch. Anyway I am interested in having that short scale on this guitar. It really is a cute little guy.

I can't remember if this scale length is the short or long cut off and the 1st or 3rd fret but I do remeber that being the base of the scale. I have to look into that but it is something like that.

LMI sells plans for a size 5 by Scott Antes. The scale is 21.375. I think Richard Harvey (goes by arvey here) has made a few of these and really seems to like them.
